My name is Jaquez Smith, and I’m a Class of 2027 linebacker/strong safety at James Kenan High School in North Carolina. I take pride in doing the little things right and giving full effort every time I step on the field. I bring versatility to the defense, whether that’s playing in the box, covering in space, or making plays sideline to sideline. I play with strong instincts and a high motor, and I’m always working to improve my strength, technique, and understanding of the game so I can keep growing as a player.
I’ve been able to stay productive and consistent, finishing this past season with over 100 tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, and interceptions. I take pride in being around the ball and doing whatever my team needs, whether that’s stopping the run, making a play in coverage, or creating a turnover. My goal is to be a complete defender who can impact the game in multiple ways.
Off the field, I focus on being disciplined, coachable, and respectful in everything I do. I maintain a 3.0 GPA and understand the importance of balancing school and football. I’m always working to represent my family, my team, and myself the right way, and I’m committed to continuing to grow both as a player and as a person.
